Vince the Coatimundi

Coatimundis as Companions
Reared in a stimulating environment with adequate interaction and attention the coati will thrive and develop into a most gregarious, intelligent, playful and entertaining creature. These animals are exceptionally intelligent and as such this should be considered when you are looking at the coati for pet. A reasonable amount of time should be allowed for personal interaction & playtime with your coati. Because of their intelligence they can become bored if not kept adequately occupied. Having a coatimundi as a pet is like having a two-year old child in many ways. Coatis are extremely intelligent and inquisitive and very skillful with their hands. There are few handles, clips and knobs they cannot master.

Ganja

Rastafarians generally believe that the smoking of cannabis (known as ganja or holy herb) enjoys Biblical sanction and is an aid to meditation and religious observance.Biblical verses Rastafarians believe justify the use of herb:
Genesis 1:29 “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.”
Exodus 10:12 "... eat every herb of the land."
Genesis 3:18 "... thou shalt eat the herb of the field."
Proverbs 15:17 "Better is a dinner of herb where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith."
Psalms 104:14 "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man."

Owen & Mzee

NAIROBI: A 120-year-old giant tortoise living in a Kenyan sanctuary has become inseparable from a baby hippo rescued by game wardens.
The year-old hippo calf christened Owen was rescued last month, suffering from dehydration after being separated from his herd in a river that drains into the Indian Ocean.
"When we released Owen into the enclosure, he lumbered to the tortoise which has a dark grey colour similar to grown up hippos," Sabine Baer, rehabilitation and ecosystems manager at the park, told Reuters on Thursday.
She said the hippo's chances of survival in another herd were very slim, predicting that a dominant male would have killed him.
However, Owen's relationship with the Aldabran tortoise named Mzee, Swahili for old man, may end soon. The sanctuary plans to place Owen with Cleo, a lonely female hippo.

Phoenix Lodge Update

This Tuesday, I heard from the newly installed Grand Worshipful Master of the lodge I am petitioning to join. My application had received a priavte objection from a brother. He could not discuss who had objected or what the objections were. The procedure now calls for a sixty day cooling off period, at the end of which the objector can either withdraw or maintain the objection to my membership. I have an idea who is objecting to me, most likely one of the older brothers who I had the heated discourse on world affairs with. The brother who had first signed then withdrew his name from my application told me he would not speak against me when it came time to blackball. I apologized to the brothers who I offended and thought ammends had been made. Now I am unsure whether this is a test to discover my interest and commitment to the craft or just political stonewalling using my weed arrests as an excuse to exclude me...They want me to appear conciliatory and sorry for the mistakes of my past, but the only thing I'm sorry about is that I got caught. I hurt no one and I don't care what the laws say, possessing the dried flowers of a weed is not immoral or wrong. The Great Architect of the Universe must have put it here for some reason, plus Buju Banton says ganja was found in the grave of King Solomon.

Pantheism

Pantheism, literally, means "God is All" and "All is God". It is the view that everything is of an all-encompassing immanent God; or that the universe, or nature, and God are equivalent. More detailed definitions tend to emphasize the idea that natural law, existence and/or the universe (the sum total of all that is was and shall be) is represented or personified in the theological principle of 'God'.
An oft-cited feature of pantheism is that each individual human, being part of the universe or nature, is part of God. One issue discussed by pantheists is how, if this is so, humans can have free will. In answer, the following analogy is sometimes given (particularly by classical pantheists): "you are to God, as an individual blood cell in your vein is to you." The analogy further maintains that while a cell may be aware of its own environs, and even has some choices (freewill) between right and wrong (killing a bacteria, becoming malignant, or perhaps just doing nothing, among countless others) it likely has little conception of the greater being of which it is a part. Another way to understand this relationship is the Hindu concept of Jiva, wherein the human soul is an aspect of God not yet having reached enlightenment, after which it becomes Atman.
However, it should be noted that not all pantheists accept the idea of free will, with determinism being particularly widespread among naturalistic pantheists. Although individual interpretations of pantheism may suggest certain implications for the nature and existence of free will and/or determinism, pantheism itself does not include any requirement of belief either way. However, the issue is widely discussed, as it is in many other religions and philosophies.

US Naval Academy 34 New Mexico 19
Emerald Nuts Bowl, Dec. 30th, SBC Park SF, CA
The Midshipmen (10-2) tied for the most wins in school history, last accomplished when Navy went 10-1-1 in 1905. It was a fitting end for the Mids, some of whom will head off to war in the coming year.
After stopping New Mexico on fourth down with a goal line stand on their own foot line; Navy kept the ball for the next 14 minutes, 26 seconds -- reeling off 26 plays on the drive -- and held New Mexico to only six plays in the fourth quarter.
"I've never heard of a 14-minute drive,'' Lobos coach Rocky Long said. "The strange thing is, we weren't playing bad defense.''
Being part of such a long drive is something players on both sides will remember. Those on the field were exhausted, and those watching also became tired.
"The drive to eat up the whole fourth quarter was huge. It was a great way to play defense,'' Navy coach Paul Johnson said.
